An Invitation to Audition
There is a place where music carries history, where storytelling becomes ritual, and where a community learns to hold one another through joy, grief, fear, and hope.
At its heart, Once on This Island is about people coming together. Building family across differences, lifting one another through hardship, and discovering what it means to belong. The ensemble is the heartbeat of this piece, creating the world of the island together through storytelling, music, movement, and shared imagination.
We are seeking performers of all backgrounds, identities, experience levels, and body types. Whether you are a seasoned performer or stepping into the audition room for the first time, we hope you’ll join us.
This production will feature strong ensemble storytelling as well as opportunities for featured moments and solo work throughout the show.
Come ready to move, sing, play, collaborate, and help build something beautiful together.
We can’t wait to see the community that gathers around this story.
About the Show
Once on This Island is a powerful musical inspired by Caribbean folklore and storytelling traditions. The story explores two communities living side by side, descendants of French plantation owners and the native peoples of the Antilles. And how one young girl’s journey teaches them about love, compassion, and the importance of togetherness.
Filled with music, movement, storytelling, and ensemble-driven theatricality, the show celebrates resilience, community, diversity, and the power of human connection.
All are welcome to audition, and racial diversity is an essential part of bringing this story and world to life.
