RiverTowne Players is proud to offer a vibrant spectrum of youth programs designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and make the performing arts accessible to all. Whether your child is stepping into the spotlight for the first time or deepening their craft, our programs meet them where they are and help them to grow.
From school-day performances that introduce thousands of students to live theatre, to immersive workshops and outreach initiatives that break down barriers, each program is a doorway into imagination, collaboration, and community.

Imagine That! Performing Arts Lab
Mobile, hands-on workshops that bring theatre directly to community spaces, working in partnership with City of New Bern Parks and Recreation. These sessions emphasize creativity, collaboration, and confidence-building.
Young Actors Academy
A structured training program for aspiring performers, offering weekly classes in acting, voice, and movement. Designed for youth ready to commit to deeper learning and ensemble work, with opportunities to perform and grow throughout the season.
Camp Bravo
A high-energy theatre camp for ages 8–16, welcoming kids of all experience levels. Participants build performance skills through games, ensemble work, and rehearsals. Culminating in a fun, fully staged show that celebrates their creativity and growth.
Youth Musicals
A fully staged musical presented by youth performers for both the community and local schools. Each year, more than a thousand students attend field trip performances, making this one of RTP’s most impactful traditions. Youth Theatre blends artistic excellence with educational outreach, offering young actors a chance to shine while inspiring the next generation of theatre-goers.
Ruth A. Waters Scholarship Fund
Each year, RiverTowne Players awards $5,000 in arts education scholarships to high school seniors who’ve shown dedication to theatre and plan to pursue a degree in the performing arts.
